Reports: Matt Klentak Selected as Phillies GM

The Phillies have reportedly selected the successor to Ruben Amaro Jr. as general manager. As first reported by Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe, the Phillies will name Angels Assistant General Manager Matt Klentak as their next GM.

The organization has yet to confirm the reports, but Todd Zolecki of MLB.com and CSN's Jim Salisbury have confirmed the report with their sources.

Report: Phillies To Interview Kim Ng (and Others) for GM Job

​According to a report from CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, the Phillies are set to interview Major League Baseball Senior Vice-President of Baseball Operations Kim Ng and others for the vacant general manager role in the organization.

If true, the report puts the Phillies in a position to make history in a very good way. If hired, Ng would be the first female general manager in any of the four major sports leagues in America, something that is long overdue.

Phillies Prospect Jesse Biddle Set for Tommy John Surgery

The Phillies announced on Sunday that Jesse Biddle, their 18th ranked prospect according to MLB.com, is set to have Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow on October 14. The typical recovery time from the surgery is 12 to 18 months.

Biddle, a 23-year-old lefty, was the Phillies first round pick (27th overall) out of Germantown Friends High School in the 2010 MLB Draft.
