The Phillies have placed third baseman Cody Asche on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, retroactive to May 23, the club announced Sunday. The club called up right-hander Justin De Fratus to fill Asche’s spot on the active roster.

Asche has hit .258 with four home runs and 18 RBIs so far this season. The 23-year-old has been coming on as late, as he hit .317 with a .406 on-base percentage in the month of May. Asche has struggled in the field, however, committing seven errors in 36 games.
De Fratus, who started the season with the Phillies before being sent down, has compiled a 4.50 ERA in 15 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.

For who? My teammates. For what? To win.
