If you made it through all of this one, congratulations. You successfully watched a five hour and 23 minute Phillies game.

It would be an unlikely hero to end this game in the wee hours of Saturday morning, as Reid Brignac singled home the winning run in the 14th in a 6-5 Phillies victory.

The game was back and forth early, as the Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

The Phillies would take back one run in the third before Domonic Brown smacked a three-run home run in the fourth to put the Phillies ahead 4-3.

The Mets would respond in the fifth, however, as former Phillies Bobby Abreu doubled home two runs to put New York back on top.

Brown would knock in another run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5 before both teams' offense went into a lull for nearly nine innings of baseball.

With both bullpens going into lockdown mode, it would take until the 14th inning before an unlikely hero would emerge.

After Marlon Byrd reached on an error to start the bottom of the 14th, Carlos Ruiz singled to put runners on the corners. Cesar Hernandez would then be intentionally walked to load the bases and bring the man who started in his place, Reid Brignac, to the plate.

Brignac would rope the 0-1 pitch over the head of a shallow-playing left fielder to bring home Byrd and end the marathon game in a 6-5 Phillies victory.

The Phillies will now return to action on Saturday afternoon, as Kyle Kendrick makes the start.

For who? My teammates. For what? To win.
