The Phillies won by a small margin in a close game of low scoring proportions (see I can use fancy words too). In the end, the Phillies topped the NL East leading Braves by a score of 2 to 1, to prove that the Braves winning the division is just a fluke.
Cliff Lee made the start for the Phillies and was just top notch. Cliff surrendered all of two hits in eight innings pitched. Lee allowed one run total while also striking out ten. Jonathan Papelbon came on for the ninth, picking up his 25th save of the season.
The Phillies trailed 1 to 0 entering the seventh, when the majestic Cody stepped in. With two outs, Asche smacked a two run home run to center. It was Acshe's fourth homer of the season, as he continues to make progress at the plate.
The Phillies will face the Braves again tomorrow. Kyle Kendrick will make the start for the Phillies.
