Kevin Frandsen has opted for free agency rather than report to the Phillies’ Triple-A team. Frandsen was outrighted on Sunday, leaving him 72 hours to decide whether to go to Lehigh Valley or enter free agency.
By choosing free agency, Frandsen releases the Phillies from the $900,000 they would have owed him this season.

The move takes a further hit on the Phillies’ already somewhat shallow depth on the bench. But hey, maybe they will buy everyone (of legal drinking age) at the Home Opener a beer with that money they saved.
