Roberto Hernandez surrendered seven runs on 11 hits this afternoon in his fifth start of the spring. The Phillies held a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the third before the Blue Jays put up four runs, including Jose Bautista’s first of two home runs on the day.

Cody Asche responded with a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth to tie the game, but the Blue Jays would score three more runs in the bottom of the frame, as they knocked Hernandez out of the game.

Hector Neris would record the final out of the fourth for the Phillies before Jonathan Papelbon came on for a scoreless fifth.

The Blue Jays would score four more runs across the next four innings, with Brad Lincoln allowing three of them and Shawn Camp surrendering the other, as the Phillies fell 11-6.

The Phillies offense was much improved on the day, scoring six runs on 10 hits, with Ryan Howard leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance on the day.

The Phillies will be in split-squad action on Thursday, with David Buchanan getting the start at home against the Blue Jays and Jeff Manship taking the mound against the Astros on the road.

Notes: Cole Hamels threw more than 40 pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday morning and could throw live batting practice Saturday if all goes well. Jimmy Rollins and Ruben Amaro Jr. both denied trade rumors that have been swirling of late around the shortstop. Take that for what it’s worth.

For who? My teammates. For what? To win.
