Dominant.

That's just one of the many words that could be used to describe Cliff Lee's performance Monday night.

The left-hander tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out 10, as the Phillies cruised past the Dodgers, 7-0.

Three of the first batters Lee faced would single, but after that the veteran settled in, retiring 20 straight batters on his way to pitching an absolute gem.

Lee would pitch with a lead the entire night thanks to an RBI double by Carlos Ruiz in the top of the first to score Tony Gwynn and Jimmy Rollins. The catcher would clean up in the game from the cleanup spot, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs.

A two-run home run from Ryan Howard in the fifth would extend the Phillies' lead to 4-0 before John Mayberry Jr. would come around to score on an error by Dodgers' pitcher Paul Maholm to make it 5-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, the Dodgers would finally get another hit, as Tim Fedorowicz singled for just the fourth hit of the game for Los Angeles.

Carlos Ruiz would hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to push the Phillies' lead to 7-0, and Jeff Manship would come on to finish up the game in the ninth, as the Phillies cruised behind Cliff Lee's stellar performance.

A.J. Burnett will take the mound for the Phillies on Tuesday night, facing off against Dodgers' starter Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Notes: The Phillies have appealed Ryan Howard's seventh-inning single in Sunday's game for review. The club believes the hit should've been ruled a double, which would've given Howard the cycle on the afternoon.

For who? My teammates. For what? To win.
