Perhaps the only person as frustrated as the fans with this team, Cole Hamels, was on the mound today and continued to receive little support from his teammates in a 2-1 loss to the Braves.

Perhaps the only person as frustrated as the fans with this team, Cole Hamels, was on the mound today and continued to receive little support from his teammates in a 2-1 loss to the Braves.
Hamels got off to a rough start, allowing a home run to Emilio Bonifacio to lead off the game. The Braves would tack on one more in the first inning before Hamels began to settle in.
Hamels would go into cruise control after the first, not allowing another hit and retiring the Braves in order in each of the next five innings. Unfortunately for the veteran lefty, he would continue to receive no offensive support, as the Phillies mustered just one run in the eighth on their way to a 2-1 loss.
It was an all too familiar scene for Hamels and the Phillies. Squandering another great outing by their pitcher is just one of the many reasons the Phillies finished the season in the NL East cellar, having won just 73 games.
The Phillies are in a downward spiral, as the organization continues to have its issues and hold no one, specifically GM Ruben Amaro, Jr. responsible for those problems.
Get ready to dig in for the long haul Phillies fans, because at this rate, it will be quite a few years before the Phillies are competitive again.
