In a stunning turn of events, the Phillies offense showed significant signs of life on Tuesday night.
Despite being down 5-1 after the first inning, the Phillies remained poised, quickly regaining the lead in the second inning before holding on for a 9-7 win over the Brewers.

The Phillies got on the board in the first with a sacrifice fly by Chase Utley, but the Brewers would rough up starter Kyle Kendrick in the bottom half of the frame.
Scooter Gennett would hit a solo home run for the Brewers to tie the game before Lyle Overbay hit a grand slam to give Milwaukee a 5-1 lead.
At this point, most sane people assumed the Phillies had lost this one. But, in an odd turn of events, the Phillies offense erupted, scoring five runs of their own in the second inning to regain the lead.
A solo home run by Domonic Brown in the third would extend the Phillies' lead. Brown singled home two more runs in the fifth to push the Phillies' lead to 9-5, but the Brewers would not be done just yet.
A two-run home run by Mark Reynolds in the sixth would pull Milwaukee within two, but they would get no closer, as the Phillies bullpen came on and shut the Brewers down to hang on for a 9-7 win.
