David Buchanan made the start for the Phillies, giving them two scoreless innings of work while recording two strikeouts.
Tony Gwynn Jr. would score John Mayberry Jr. on a sacrifice fly in the fourth and would single home Asche to extend the Phillies’ lead to 4-0.
The Blue Jays would take one run back in the sixth and two in the seventh against Greg Smith, who allowed five hits in one and one-third inning of work.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by Rupp and Gwynn in the eighth would extend the Phillies’ lead to 6-3 before the game was called due to rain.
Up next for the Phillies is a night game against the Yankees on Tuesday. Jeff Manship takes the hill for the Phillies in his final start of the spring.
