The Cardinals would strike first, as Matt Holliday singled home a run in the third, but Burnett would begin to settle in from there.
Burnett would help his own cause, tying the game at 1-1 in the fifth, when he doubled to center field to bring home John Mayberry Jr., who led off the inning with a double of his own.
The Phillies would take the lead on the next at-bat, as Jimmy Rollins hit a ground-rule double to bring Burnett home and extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
Marlon Byrd would lead off the sixth inning with a home run, and the Phillies would score two more in the frame to extend their lead to 5-1.
Burnett would cruise from there, retiring the Cardinals in order in three of the last four innings, as he picked up fifth win of the season in the complete game.
The Phillies have now won nine of their last 11 games, and sit just 3 1/2 games out of first place in the horrific NL East.
