Multiple reports (Ryan Lawrence of Philadelphia Daily News, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, Matt Gelb of The Philadelphia Inquirer, etc.) have the Phillies and reliever Antonio Bastardo avoiding arbitration with a one-year $2 million deal for the 2014 season.
The 28-year-old left-handed reliever is coming off a season in which he made 48 appearances and pitched to the tune of a 2.32 ERA. Bastardo was one of the few reliable pieces in the Phillies bullpen last season and $2 million is a decent deal for both parties.
Bastardo has a career ERA of 3.65 in 208 appearances, 5 starts. Another plus, he has a fun name to say, so there is that.
