Non-roster invitee Kevin Slowey is off to a solid start for the Phillies in Spring Training.
The 30-year-old Slowey, who came to Phillies’ camp on a minor league deal, tossed three perfect innings on Sunday in his second start of the spring to help the Phillies pick up a 5-4 win over the Rays.
It was the Phillies’ second win in the first week of Grapefruit League play – both of which have been credited to Slowey – as they improved to 2-3-1.

The Phillies got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single by Freddy Galvis and would add three more runs in the seventh.
The Rays took two runs back in the eighth, but the Phillies would tack on a run in the top of the ninth.
That extra run prove to be the difference in the end, as the Phillies held off the Rays for a 5-4 win.
Galvis went 2-for-3 at the plate on the afternoon with one RBI.
Slowey would continue to make his early case for a spot in the back of the Phillies’ starting rotation, recording three perfect innings of work and striking out two batters.
