Utley Solid but NL Falls to AL in All-Star Game

You would’ve thought Kyle Kendrick was pitching for the National League with how terribly things went in the first inning. The NL’s starting pitcher Adam Wainwright surrendered a double and a triple to start the bottom of the first before allowing a two-run home run to Miguel Cabrera to give the American League a 3-0 lead.

The NL would take two back in the top of the second, however, with the help of RBI doubles by Chase Utley and Jonathan Lucroy.

Another RBI double for Lucroy would tie the game in the fourth, but the AL would plate two runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead on their way to a 5-3 victory over the NL.

In true Utley fashion, the veteran second baseman would also be hit by a pitch in the game, wearing a fastball from Chris Sale in the fourth. Utley would be lifted from the game at that point, but not before putting together a solid All-Star outing.

For who? My teammates. For what? To win.
