The 76ers faced off against Joakim Noah and the Bulls on Wednesday looking to end their losing skid. Led by Thad Young, the Sixers kept it close throughout by could not pull out the win at home. The Sixers (15-53) dropped their 22nd game in a row.
Philadelphia played up to Chicago's level the whole game. The 76ers trailed by 7 at the half and knotted it up at 85 in the final quarter but Philly could not pull ahead.
Despite losing Derek Rose to injury and trading away Deng, the Bulls have proved they are still a solid playoff team. Since trading away Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes, Philly has yet to win, but this losing streak started before those trades. In fact, the Sixers have been playing much better as of late.
Thad Young scored 24 points and swiped 4 steals in the loss. Michael Carter-Williams did a little of everything, recording 9 rebounds and 7 assists to go with his 16 points. Tony Wroten added 17 points, 7 assists, and 6 boards. Philadelphia scored 28 points with the fast break and hit 11 of 24 from downtown.
Noah scored 14 points, secured 10 rebounds, passed out 6 assists, and turned away 4 shots for Chicago. Jimmy Butler contributed 16 points and Mike Dunleavy tacked on 15. The Bulls had great help off their bench from Taj Gibson and DJ Augustin. Augustin scored a team-high 20 points while Gibson scored 19 and grabbed 13 rebounds. Chicago won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Philly 52-38.
The Sixers will stay in Philly and face the much improved Knicks on Friday.
