After losing to Dallas at home last Friday, the Sixers welcomed the Milwaukee Bucks to the Wells Fargo Center in a battle of the league's two worst teams. The Bucks came into Monday with only 10 wins on the season and they would leave Philadelphia with 11. In a contest between two terrible teams, someone had to win and it wasn't the Sixers(15-42) .
After a back-and-forth opening quarter the Bucks declared their dominance in embarrassing 2nd quarter for the Sixers. Philadelphia allowed 43 points while only scoring 16 in the 2nd quarter. Thad Young showed serious heart and hustle despite the large deficit, scoring 16 points in the 3rd quarter while doing all of the little things, like taking a charge, grabbing steals, and running in transition. Despite Young's play, the Sixers were still outscored in the 3rd. The 76ers cut into the Buck's lead but it was far too late in the 4th for it to make a difference. Philadelphia lost their 11th straight game, falling 130-110 at home to the Bucks.
Sam Hinkie's moves before the trade deadline last week have indeed doomed the Sixers for the present, while preparing for the future. In their second game without Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes, Philly's league-worst defense has somehow gotten worse, allowing 124 points against Dallas and 130 against Milwaukee (the Bucks' season-high). The Bucks shot 57% from the floor and hit 12-20 from beyond the arc. Milwaukee had their way against the Sixers' interior defense, scoring 60 points in the paint.
The Sixers shot an impressive 49% and won the turnover battle (18 TO to Milwaukee's 23), but they gambled too often on defense and paid for it. The 76ers also scored 32 points in transition, one of the few aspects that this roster can excel in.
Thaddeus Young finished with 28 points, 7 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds to lead Philly. Carter-Williams scored 20 points but only recorded 3 assists. Wroten added 19 points and 5 assists in another start.
OJ Mayo led Milwaukee with 25 points off the bench while Ersan Illysova scored a very efficient 20 points. Brandon Knight ended with 15 points and handed out 4 assists and Ramon Sessions added 16 points and 5 assists in reserve.
Danny Granger did not suit-up again for the Sixers after his trade from the Pacers and it is being reported that he will indeed be bought-out.
The Sixers will stay in Philadelphia and play the Orlando Magic (17-41) on Wednesday.
