As the NBA season approaches, the Sam Hinkie and the 76ers continue to show their rock solid commitment to tanking the upcoming season(s) in order to build a successful team down the road. Over the past weekend, the Sixers completed a trade with the Nets that sent G Casper Ware to Brooklyn for G Marquis Teague and a 2019 second round pick. A bit surprising as Ware looked good in the summer league but you know Hinkie can't deny chance for a second rounder. Teague was cut shortly after the trade was completed.
On Monday, the Sixers completed another trade with another Atlantic Division rival, sending Arnett Moultrie to the Knicks for Travis Outlaw, a future second round pick, and the rights to swap another future second rounder. Philly is expected to cut Outlaw as well as the Sixers and their cap room continue to act as a dumping ground for the NBA's unwanted contracts. Moultrie's tenure with the Sixers was shaky at best. He had problems staying healthy and in shape and was expected to make an impact last season but only played in 12 games and averaged 3.0 ppg and 2.9 rpg.

Moultrie, along with Jason Richardson (yes, he's still on the team) were the last remaining players from the Collins era. Richardson is expected to miss the entire season with a right foot fracture after missing the entire season last year. This is the last year of his contract and he serves as a painful reminder of the Bynum trade. The Sixers gave up Iguodala (part of an exciting Warriors team) and Vucevic (thriving in Orlando) for 33 games of Richardson and, in case you forgot, 0 games from Andrew Bynum.
In some positive injury news, Michael Carter-Williams expects to be healthy enough to return November 13th from his offseason shoulder surgery. It was reported that the reigning rookie of the year may not have been able to return until early 2015, but it looks as though fans will get to witness Noel and MCW play together in 2014. Hopefully. Expect Wroten and Kj McDaniels to see even more playing time while Carter-Williams is out.
The Sixers open the regular season against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Here's to another losing season.
