NBA Reverse Power Rankings: Preseason Rankings

10/27/2013

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2013-2014 NBA season is upon us!  The first slate of NBA games starts on Tuesday while the 76ers season commences on Wednesday against the formidable Miami Heat.  Unless you have been living under a rock all summer, you have come to the realization that the Sixers are not projected to win too many games this upcoming season (#rigginforwiggins).  If you have been living under a rock all summer, and one of the first things you do upon rejoining the rest of civilization is visiting our site, then we commend you for your great decision making.

It's not fun being at the bottom of every power rankings ESPN or CBS or Yahoo or Sports Blog XYZ releases every week.  Since we at the BSB thrive on optimism and giving the people what they want, we will be releasing our very own Reverse Power Rankings (otherwise known as the race for Wiggins).  If you also just got out from under your rock, you're probably wondering what a Wiggins is.  Andrew Wiggins happens to be the most highly coveted basketball prospect since LeBron James and whichever team receives the first pick come next June will most likely be using that pick on Mr. Wiggins.
The way I have broken down the rankings is that I have formatted different divisions for each level of losing.  Without further ado, here come the rankings:

The Contenders: Front Runners for the title
30: Miami Heat
29: Indiana Pacers
28: San Antonio Spurs
27: Chicago Bulls
26: Los Angeles Clippers

The Fringe Contenders: One or two pieces from being a contender
25: Oklahoma City Thunder
24: Brooklyn Nets
23: Houston Rockets
22: Golden State Warriors
21: Memphis Grizzlies
20: New York Knicks

Their Foot Is In The Door: Bottom Tier Playoff Teams
19: Denver Nuggets
18: Atlanta Hawks
17: Detroit Pistons
16: Minnesota Timberwolves
15: Washington Wizards

No Man's Land: Just bad enough not to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to land Wiggins
14: Portland Trailblazers
13: Dallas Mavericks
12: Cleveland Cavaliers
11: New Orleans Pelicans
10: Milwaukee Bucks

The Unknowns: The way they handle major injuries will determine lottery position
9: Los Angeles Lakers
8: Boston Celtics

Kentucky Wildcats Division: Likely to land any one of Kentucky's many prospects
7: Toronto Raptors
6: Sacramento Kings
5: Charlotte Bobcats
4: Utah Jazz

#RigginForWiggins: Front Runners to win the Draft Lottery
3: Orlando Magic
