NBA Reverse Power Rankings Week 2: Wacky Weekend

11/4/2013

Wow. I've thought up many different ways to start this week's power rankings, but nothing other than "Wow" could do justice to what transpired over this first NBA week.  There was a lot of exciting action and impressive performances from very unknown and shocking sources.  If the playoffs started today, Chicago, New York, Brooklyn and Memphis would all be out.  The Timberwolves are 3-0 and playing great ball, the Suns are off to a decent start.  But I feel like I'm forgetting something, what could that be? Hmmm...oh that's right.
THE SIXERS ARE 3-0!! Not only are they one of four undefeated teams left in the
NBA, but they were supposed to be 0-3 at this point.  They haven't exactly been
beating the creampuffs of the league either.  They beat two time defending world
champion Miami on opening night, took down a tenacious Washington team on the
road, and then followed that up by besting an elite Chicago team at the Wells
Fargo Center.  those are three potential playoff teams, including two of the
best teams in the league!

Don't you worry
Sixers fans, we should have plenty of 76ers articles up on the site this week.
For now, bask in the limelight that is the top tier of the power rankings.
Don't bask for too long, there are still 79 more games this season and Golden
State comes to town tonight to try and push us back in the race for Wiggins.
It's gonna take a lot more fight to stay on the contenders
list.

The Contenders:
30. Philadelphia 76ers (can you tell we're excited)
29. Indiana Pacers
28. Houston Rockets
27. Minnesota Timberwolves
26. Miami Heat

Lose once, shame on you
25. Los Angeles Clippers
24. Oklahoma City Thunder
23. San Antonio Spurs
22. Golden State Warriors
21. Detroit Pistons
20. Portland Trailblazers
19. Dallas Mavericks
18. Phoenix Suns
17. Toronto Raptors

Lose twice, even more shame on you
16. Chicago Bulls
15. Brooklyn Nets
14. Memphis Grizzlies
13. New Orleans Hornets
12. New York Knicks
11. Atlanta Hawks
10. Orlando Magic
9. Cleveland Cavaliers
8. Los Angeles Lakers

Give us any Kentucky player
7. Charlotte Bobcats
6. Milwaukee Bucks
5. Sacramento Kings

Still Riggin' For Wiggins
4. Denver Nuggets
3. Washington Wizards
2. Utah Jazz
1. Boston Celtics

Again, this is only the first week of
the season, so the results will look pretty crazy.  As the season progresses,
expect to see the real Wiggins contenders make their way to the top ( or is it
the bottom) of the standings.
