Its the day all Sixers fans have been waiting for: the trade deadline. Sam Hinkie worked his magic in the final hours as Philadelphia continues to build for the future. Who knew how valuable a 2nd round pick was? A lot happened and in case you missed it we summed it up for you:

Cavaliers send: F Earl Clark, F/C Henry Sims, two 2nd round picks
Getting rid of Spencer Hawes was a move that a lot of fans saw coming. His contract was expiring and Hinkie had little interest in re-signing him as a piece for the future. The Sixers received the first 2 of their many second round picks as well as 2 young, yet expendable pieces. Earl Clark's 2014-2015 $4.25 million contract is not guaranteed. Clark showed some promise like the Lakers last year but has not fit in in Cleveland this season. Henry Sims, an undrafted second year player, has an expiring contract.

76ers receive: G Eric Maynor, 2015 second round pick (Denver), 2016 second round pick (Washington)
Somehow without giving anything up, the Sixers received 2 more second rounders and Eric Maynor. The Sixers got involved in the three-team trade to basically take Maynor off the Wizards hands. Maynor has a $2.1 million player option for next year and has averaged less than 10 minutes played for Washington this season. The 26 year-old point guard has been bounced around the league, from Utah, to OKC, to Portland, to Washington and now to Philadelphia. The future second round picks will take the place of those that Philly will most likely have to owe Boston from the Moultrie trade.
Poor Man's Hawes
Clippers send: F Byron Mullens
76ers send: 2nd round pick
Just when the Sixers trade Hawes, they get another white outside-shooting 7-footer back. Mullens is basically a poor man's Hawes. He can do everything Hawes can do.... just worse. The big man had his best year in Charlotte last year when he averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. The trade seems odd at first sight and although its not confirmed I believe the second-rounder may be protected.

Pacers send: Danny Granger, (rumored 2015 2nd round pick)
76ers send: Evan Turner, Lavoy Allen
As expected, the Sixers finally traded Evan Turner, but Hinkie waited to the last second. Turner, who will be unrestricted free agent, is in the middle of the best season of his career, however Hinkie did not see him as a core part of the franchise moving forward. I believe if they traded him earlier in the season, they may have gotten more in return as he has cooled down. The Sixers also traded away the former Temple Owl, Lavoy Allen. In return the Sixer receive a former all-star in Danny Granger. Granger was once the best player in Indiana before injuries slowed him down and Paul George took over. Granger's $14 million contract is expiring and will clear more cap space. Otherwise, he could provide a leadership role but I find it unlikely he would resign. Granger may even be bought out before the season ends.
Thad Young and Arnett Moultrie are now the only remaining Sixers from the Doug Collins era. Hinkie has made this franchise his and he is ready to rebuild. It will be interesting to see Brett Brown's rotation Friday when the Sixers play the Mavs. Hinkie has all but guaranteed a top five pick in next years draft.
