After falling on the road, this time in Boston, the Sixers returned home Saturday to play the Hornets in the second game of their back-to-back. Despite having to compete without Carter-Williams (toe injury) and falling behind by 16 in the 2nd quarter, a pivotal 3rd period put Philly back in front and they would hold onto the lead for their 4th win at home in a row. Final Score: 89-81.
With Carter-Williams missing his second straight game, Tim Frazier would get his 1st start in only his second game with the Sixers. After signing a 10 day contract this week, the rookie went on to record 11 assists against Boston on Friday.

The 76ers found themselves only trailing by 1 point after a tight opening period but would fall behind early after a 12-0 Charlotte run started by a layup from Stephenson less than a minute into the 2nd. A three-pointer from Gerald Henderson put the Hornets up 46-30 with 3:23 left in the 1st half. Philadelphia was able to close out the half on a 12-2 run of their own and entered the halftime break down 48-42.

Robert Covington was feeling it offensively in the 3rd quarter as his 11 points in the period helped Philly regain control. RoCo led all scorers with 22 points in the game, hitting 5 of 10 long range attempts while also grabbing 8 rebounds.

Philadelphia outscored Charlotte 28-13 in the 3rd quarter and entered the 4th with 70-61 lead. Brett Brown's squad had double-digit point control of a good part of the final quarter and despite cooling down and failing to score in the final 2 minutes, their defense shut down Charlotte over the last 3 minutes to secure the victory.

The 76ers put up 25 fast break points but Charlotte outscored Philly 40-26 in the paint. Neither team shot well, with the Sixers shooting 39% and the Hornets only finishing on 35% of their shots.

Hollis Thompson scored 18 points (6-9 FG) in a reserve role. Nerlens Noel put up 12 points and secured 7 boards while swiping away 3 steals and rejecting 2 shots. The flattop also showed some range, knocking down a few mid-range jumpers. Although going scoreless, Frazier recorded 8 assists.

Al Jefferson led the Hornets with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Henderson scored 17 points and had 9 assists before exiting the game after getting an elbow to the face in the 3rd quarter.

The Sixers (12-40) will have a tough matchup with the Golden State Warriors (40-9) on Friday at the Wells Fargo Center.
