Coming off two straight wins against the Magic and Heat, the 76ers continued their road trip with a stop in Portland. The Trailblazers (23-7) were without all-star LaMarcus Aldridge as well as centers Robin Lopez and Chris Kaman but it did not make a difference. The Sixers poor defense let Portland do most of their damage from behind the three point line. Philadelphia had their small win strak snapped, losing 114-93.
With Portland missing the core of front court, Philadelphia took advantage scoring 64 points in the paint. The Sixers shot a respectable 44% for the game but missed too many opportunities at the foul line. They only made 18 of 33 from the charity stripe. Despite missing Aldridge, Lopez, and Kamen the Blazers still managed to out-rebound Philly 48-42.
The defining factor in the contest was Portland's hot three-point shooting. They connected on a season-high 18 shots from deep on 42%. Wes Matthews knocked down 7 on his own. The Sixers poor defensive IQ and switching led to too many open shots.
Carter-Williams scored 17 points and secured 6 rebounds while dishing out 5 dimes. Tony Wroten led Philly with 22 points off the bench and added 4 assists of his own. Noel made a defensive impact, recording 4 steals and 2 blocks. Nerlens also added 8 points and 7 boards.
Damian Lillard scored a game-high 28 points for Portland while adding 9 assists. Matthews finished with 25 points and Joel Freeland collected 17 rebounds in relief of Lopez.
The Sixers (4-24) travel to Utah to play the Jazz (9-20).
