The 76ers officially signed forward Brandon Davies today as they finalize their roster for the start of the season. Davies is an undrafted rookie out of BYU, best known for his suspension as a Sophomore for having premarital sex with his girlfriend (Gross! Am I right?!), therefore violating BYU’s “honor code”. After being reinstated, Davies was named to the All-WCC team both his Junior and Senior year. He averaged 17.7 points, 8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and .9 blocks during his senior year.
Davies was invited to the play on the Clippers’ summer team and played with LA throughout the preseason before being waived last week (most likely because of that chronic premarital sex issue). Davies did not get much playing time in his 5 preseason games with the Clippers, averaging only 11.2 minutes on the court. When he did see action, he averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds.
The 6’9’’ forward joins a log jam in the Sixers’ front court, where he will be fighting for his minutes. However, with both Moultrie and Noel out for what may be the entire season, the rookie will get some opportunities to show the organization what he can do. As long as he can keep his pants on, he should be suited up Wednesday.
