It took just two minutes for the Galaxy to take the lead over the Union on Saturday night.

Landon Donovan would send a free kick into the box, and Leonardo would head it home. Unfortunately for the Union, Donovan and the Galaxy were just getting started, as they dominated Philadelphia in a 4-1 victory.

The Union found themselves unable yet again to notch the elusive second win of the season on Saturday afternoon, playing the Houston Dynamo to scoreless draw at PPL Park.

After failing to get much going in the first half, the Union showed some signs of life following the break.

A goal in the 90th minute by Maurice Edu preserved a point for the Union, as they battled Real Salt Lake to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Zac MacMatch made a beautiful diving save on Alvaro Saborio’s penalty kick five minutes in, but Luke Mulholland would bury the rebound to put RSL up 1-0.

Zac MacMath turned away a Mike Magee penalty kick in stoppage time to preserve a 2-2 tie, sending the Union back to Philadelphia with an important point.

The Fire jumped to an early lead, as Magee found the back of the net in the 16th minute. The Union would respond with two goals of their own however, as Maurice Edu buried a shot to the far post in the 32nd minute before a Leo Fernandes free kick found the back of the net in the 39th minute to put the Union up 2-1.

The Union and Impact swapped forwards on Friday, as Philadelphia sent Jack McInerney to Montreal in exchange for local product Andrew Wenger.

“Andrew is a young and talented attacking player who we think is a good fit with our style of play,” Manager John Hackworth said. “Jack was an important member of our squad over the past four years, but the reality is our team has evolved and this deal puts our team in a better overall position long-term."

A shorthanded goal by the Impact in the 80th minute spoiled what would’ve been the second win of the season for the Union on a rain soaked day at PPL Park.

The Union got on the board in the 35th minute when Jack McInerney placed the ball around a defender to Vincent Nogueira in space. Nogueira would blast one past the keeper on the breakaway to give the Union a 1-0 lead with his first MLS goal.

Jack McInerney buried a corner with his head in the 64th minute to give the Union a 1-0 lead, one they would maintain until a stoppage time goal by Portland allowed the Timbers to escape with a draw.

The Union have officially acquired midfielder Maurice Edu from Stoke City FC on a one-year loan with an option to purchase.

Edu is a former number one overall selection in the MLS Superdraft, returning to the league after a six-year stint overseas.

The 27-year-old midfielder definitely boosts the Union's lineup, as he comes to the squad with 45 U.S. Men's National Team caps in his career.

Everything was on the line for the Union in today's match against Sporting Kansas City at PPL Park. Entering the day just one point out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the Union would need many things to go their way, but first priority would be securing a win. After tying things on a late goal, the Union saw their season come to an unceremonious end on a stoppage time goal giving Sporting the 2-1 win.

It was a crucial game. On the cusp of a playoff berth, the Union traveled to Montreal Saturday. Having fallen on hard times in the latter half of the season, the Union needed to leave Canada with three points but were unable to pick up the win, falling 2 to 1 to the Impact.
