Conor Casey led the Union to victory tonight as they topped the cellar-dwellers of the MLS, D.C. United. Casey accounted for all the Union’s goals, as he found the back of the net twice in the contest.
Casey got the Union on the board in the 35th minute of the game. Sebastien Le Toux had a beautiful header to flick the cross onto Casey’s foot, as he buried the ball past the keeper. The Union would hold strong to head into the half with the lead.
In the 75th minute, Casey notched his second goal of the game, as Le Toux recorded his second assist, to give the Union a 2 to 0 lead and finish off United. Casey again found the back of the net from the middle of the box, as he buried the cross on a volley. Zac MacMath finished the game with a shutout as he recorded four saves in the game.
The Union will be back in action next Saturday as they visit the New York Red Bulls, with a chance to jump them in the standings and move into second place in the East.
