Preview: Union v. Toronto FC

10/5/2013

The Union welcome Toronto FC to PPL Park tonight as they look to continue their playoff push. The Union enter tonight's match in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, one point out of the fifth and final playoff spot. Toronto at this point looks to play the role of spoiler, as they sit in ninth place with only 26 points on the season.
While Toronto has struggled mightily all season, the match will be no walk in the park for the Union, as both matches earlier this season have ended in a draw. Toronto enters tonight coming off a 4 to 1 win over conference bottom-feeders D.C. United.

The Union enter the match coming off an important win against Sporting Kansas City last week, in a pivotal match that kept the Union in the playoff hunt. With only four games remaining in the regular season, the Union will need to finish strong if they don't want to find themselves on the outside looking in come playoff time.

A win this week and next over poor squads in Toronto and D.C. United could go a long way in helping secure a playoff berth, especially with their final two games coming against Montreal and Sporting Kansas City.

The Union will look to scoring leaders Jack McInerney and Conor Casey to put them on the board tonight. The season is rapidly approaching its end, can the Union make a final push?
