The Union visited San Jose for a late night contest and continued their recent struggles, as they fell by a score of 1 to 0. The Earthquakes got on the board early and held on for the remainder of the match to collect the victory at home.

The Union fell behind early, as Shea Salinas put the 'Quakes on the board in the fifteenth minute on an impressive goal (see below). Salinas may have fouled Sheanon Williams to get free for the shot, but no call was made. The Union would be unable to find the back of the net all game, but did have a few opportunities.

San Jose only out-shot the Union 16-15 and had one more shot on goal (5-4) than the Union. Keon Daniel ripped a shot off the post minutes into the second half, but the Union would have no luck, as the score remained 1-0.

After a Rafael Baca of the Earthquakes received his second yellow card in the fifty-seventh minute, the Union were able to finish the contest with a man advantage, but still could not find the net. The Union began an onslaught of shots, but in the end San Jose held strong and walked away victorious.

The loss puts the Union's record in their past four contests at 0-2-2. The squad remains in fourth in the Eastern Conference, but will need to find its way out of this slump if they hope to make a playoff run.

The Union will return to action on Saturday at home, as the Houston Dynamo visit PPL Park.
